Awards

Participants can earn a total of 175 points in three categories:

  • Battle – 115 points (23 points per game)
  • Appearance – 30 points
  • Sportsmanship – 30 points (2 points per game, 20 points worth of Favorite Opponent votes)

The following awards will be presented at the conclusion of the 2023 Vanguard GT.

  • The Vanguard Award – Presented to the participant with the highest total of Battle, Appearance, and Sportsmanship points. Total Points Routed is the first tie breaker and total Battle points of all opponents is the second tie breaker.
  • Best General – Presented to the participant with the highest Battle points. Total Points Routed is the first tie breaker and total Battle points of all opponents is the second tie breaker.
  • Best Appearance – Presented to the participant with the highest Appearance points.  The Appearance Judge will break ties.
  • Favorite Opponent – Presented to the participant with the highest Sportsmanship points.  Battle points is the first tie breaker and total Points Routed is the second tie breaker.
  • Players’ Choice – Presented to the participant with the most Player’s Choice votes.  Tournament staff will break ties.
  • The Counter Charger Award – Presented to the participant who finishes in the exact center of the field based on total points, rounded up (e.g. 15th out of  30 participants).  Battle points is the first tie breaker and total Points Routed is the second tie breaker.  Sponsored by the Counter Charge podcast.
  • The Rearguard Award – Presented to the participant with the lowest Battle points and best Sportsmanship.  Sportsmanship points is the first tie breaker and lowest Points Routed is the second tie breaker.
  • The Cornwell Cup – Presented to the club of 3 or more participants with the highest average combined Battle, Appearance, and Sportsmanship points of their top 3 finishing participants.  Total Points Routed is the first tie breaker and total Battle points of all opponents is the second tie breaker.

A participant can only win one of : The Vanguard Award, Best General, Best Appearance, and Favorite Opponent.

A participant is only eligible for Best Appearance if they painted their entire army by themselves.

2nd place awards may be given depending on available prize support.
